HELPING YOU REACH YOUR
Gracie Barra Roundhay Leeds, we’re not your typical martial arts academy….
Our aim is to develop better people and an even better community for those we share it with. We want to do this in an environment that feels to you like a second home.
We believe that Jiu Jitsu is for everyone and offer programs for anyone aged 4-64 (and a little older if you’re game)!
We’re not a place for fighters but support those who wish to compete, and if you’re neither….well that’s great too.
You won’t find anyone punching thin air or breaking blocks of wood. There are no chants or strange noises. No one-inch punch or superpower. No black belts aged 10.
Just high level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu delivered in an amazing facility right in the heart of YOUR community. Oh… did we mention the great coffee and free wifi??
OUR PROMISE TO YOU
Prior to establishing Gracie Barra Roundhay Leeds, Professor Mike served our country for 20 years both within Her Majesty's Royal Marines and in a front-line operational role within the MOD.
Awarded his black belt in 2017, Professor Mike has trained and competed worldwide and believes that solid fundamentals and being dominant positionally underpin any effective Jiu Jitsu game.
Away from the mats Mike is married with 2 children and lives in Roundhay. He is currently training to row solo across the Atlantic ocean to raise money for the Leeds Cares charity.
Tiernan De souza
Starting Muay Thai at age 5, Tiernan is a lifelong martial artist. At 20 he entered training to become a Royal Marine Commando but ultimately left 2 years later.
Looking for new challenges he started BJJ at the beginning of 2018. A year and a half later, with a fresh blue belt in hand, Tiernan set off to meet other martial artists and experience BJJ gyms around the world. He even spent some time managing Gracie Barra Bondi in Sydney!
T believes in the underlying philosophy of martial arts and sees it as the ultimate tool for self-development.
