GBRL CCTV Policy
One of the founding principles of Gracie Barra Roundhay Leeds (GBRL) is to ensure that our academy environment is safe and secure for everyone.
Active CCTV throughout the academy provides an enhanced capability to protect everyone, especially our youngest and most vulnerable members.
CCTV cameras within our academy
GBRL uses CCTV for the following reasons:
Prevent and verify incidents involving but not limited to;
Criminal behaviour
Staff and member misconduct
Safeguarding
Injury and dangerous behaviour
To provide the Academy Manager and/or Safeguarding Officer or third parties including law enforcement with visual evidence during and following emergencies, investigations and/or complaints.
CCTV cameras are NOT;
Hidden or covert.
Located in private areas such as toilets, changing rooms or staff rooms.
Used to monitor student or staff performance.
Accessed by anyone other than those listed within this policy.

Academy reception area
The recovery room (covering the entrance to the ladies toilet area)
The main training area (angle 1)
The main training area (angle 2) (covering the entrance to the male changing area)
The second training area
The REORG room
Access to Recorded Footage
CCTV footage is only accessed for the purposes set out in this policy. The following individuals have authority to access CCTV footage at any time:
The Academy Manager(s) and business owner(s).
Safeguarding Officer.
External third parties if permitted by law (Police).
Disclosure and Viewing CCTV footage
GBRL may choose to disclose CCTV footage to individuals not aforementioned during the course of an internal investigation. Footage will be shown privately and directly from property owned by GBRL and only within the academy premises.
Members may request to view footage at any time provided a valid reason is provided. Any requests to view footage must be made to the Academy Manager in writing by email - info@graciebarraroundhay.co.uk
Storage and Deletion of Footage
CCTV footage is kept electronically for no more than 31 days at which point it is overwritten and deleted.
Where CCTV footage has been used to verify an incident or where it is required to be retained for legal reasons, GBRL will manage and securely retain the recorded footage in accordance with GDPR legislation.
