Gracie Barra Adults Timetable

The GB¹ Program is the entry point for new students. It fuses the right combination of self-defense, takedowns, and ground techniques into a cohesive progression of classes for a period of 16 weeks.  By the end of one GB1 cycle you will have experienced and developed all of the fundamental principles of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and won’t believe how far you have come.

A high intensity 90 minute class specifically designed to prepare you technically and physically for competition.  Members must apply to become a part of the GBRL Competition Team and if successful will be granted access to these classes at no additional cost.

Available to all of our members with a least 3 stripes on their white belt, our GB2 program is the next step of your development in Jiu Jitsu.  Exposure to more advanced techniques and concepts in both Gi and No GI will level up your game!  This advanced program is available at no additional cost to our members.

Available to all of our members with at least 3 stripes on their white belts, our GB2 Live sessions offer the perfect opportunity to put your Jiu Jitsu to the test against similarly experienced students.  You’re free to roll with our without the GI depending on your focus in that session.

Gracie Barra Kids Timetable

 Our Tiny Champions program is designed specifically for children aged 3-4 and is delivered during a class lasting 30 minutes.  Each class follows a predictable and reassuring routine which includes a warm up, physical drill, technique and game all designed to develop our Tiny Champion’s confidence, movement and enjoyment of Jiu Jitsu.

Our LC1 program has been designed with the specific needs and expectations of children aged 5-7 in mind. The LC1 program offers classes lasting for 45 minutes and our members should attend these classes a minimum of twice per week.  Each class includes a warm up, physical drill, self defence technique, sport Jiu Jitsu and games.

Aged 8-10 our Little Champions will progress into the LC2 program.  Similar in structure to the LC1 program our LC2 members will be introduced to more specific live training and more complex problems and techniques.

 Between the ages of 11 and 15 we understand children develop at an alarming rate, both physically and mentally.  For that reason we may choose to split classes into more appropriate age categories if required.

Our Juniors and Teens classes last for 50 minutes and are a bridge between the LC program and the adult curriculum.  Expect increased specific live training as your child becomes more confident and big smiles all round as they start to understand the power of their true potential.

All You Need To Know

Absolutely.  We share 18 marked parking spaces right outside of the academy doors with our business neighbours.  If those are full you’ll find loads of places to park on the adjacent side streets.  If you require help with access just give us a call.

All you need is a reusable water bottle (you can fill it up in the academy), something to wear under your uniform (a t-shirt will do….and underwear obvs!!) and a camera to capture the moment right after your class!  We will meet you in reception and provide you with a clean uniform and belt.  And don’t worry if you forget something, we will make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your first class with us.

Absolutely!  We encourage parents to stay and watch their kids training.  Feel free to bring siblings, Grannie or your mate along (please see COVID-19 guidance for current restrictions), that’s why we offer free WiFi, great coffee and healthy snacks at our honesty bar.

We’re open all year round!  We close the academy for a couple of weeks at Christmas and over the summer to enable deep cleaning.  We reserve the right to open for an impromptu open-mat at short notice though so you can still get your fix!!!

 The safety of our members is our top priority.  One of the reasons that BJJ is the fastest growing martial art in the world is that it is safe to train at high intensities without the risk of injury.  The first lesson we teach all of our members is to TAP!  Tapping is to submit to your opponent, you acknowledge they got the better of you that time, you learn, and you live to fight another day.  You can tap at anytime you feel uncomfortable.

You’ll take part in one of our normal GB1 or GBK classes alongside other members of our team (many of whom will have taken their very own trial class recently).  Your instructor will introduce you to a team member who will be your partner for that class.  You will carry out the GB warm-up, learn some self-defence and sport Jiu Jitsu techniques and even take part in some specific live training (if you want to).  Don’t worry if you feel a little bit lost, your instructors and teammates will be there to help you.

 Of course.  There’s no better time to join!!  You’ll have already completed our waivers through TeamUp and so all we need to do is add you as a member and set-up your payment option.  It takes minutes and then you’ll be ready to go.  Welcome to the team!

Yes.  The safety of all of your members is our main priority.  All of our instructors and coaches are annually certified through Gracie Barra.  This process includes DBS checks and Sports First Aid training.  We’re also a UKBJJA member school and are covered by public liability insurance.
