1. Hi Matt! Congratulations on your recent silver medal at the British Open! What was the most memorable moment of the competition for you?
MB: The whole experience was great from start to finish. Great atmosphere, great people and the beers afterwards went down a treat.

2. You joined GBRL in 2021. What initially drew you to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and how has your journey been so far?
MB: I’ve always loved contact sports; Thai boxing and boxing so it was the perfect addition. I’ve really loved the journey, from getting told off by Professor Mike in the early days to still not being able to remember the warm-up!!

3. You’re an Assistant Kids Coach at GBRL. What’s the most rewarding part of working with young BJJ enthusiasts?
MB: The kids being kids! All smiling, laughing and having fun. LC1 on a Saturday morning is a great way to start the weekend.

4. Little Champion in the making; what’s the best part about sharing your BJJ passion with your son, Vinny?
MB: It’s been great for us, and watching Vinny’s confidence grow has been amazing.

5. Off the mats, how has BJJ and/or GBRL positively impacted your life? Any surprising benefits?
MB: It’s a great stress buster for me. You can’t think about much else whilst someone is trying to choke you out!

6. What is your go-to tune on your way to BJJ?!
MB: Dead Wrong by Notorious BIG.

7. Besides BJJ, what’s your hidden talent (or not-so-hidden!)? We all have them!
MB: Repairing boilers

8. And finally, the ultimate question: Would you rather fight one horse-sized duck or a hundred duck-sized horses? 🦆🐴
MB: A hundred duck-sized horses!
