It’s official, our doors will be open again from Monday 12th April 2021 and we couldn’t be more excited. Just like the government, our full return to in-academy contact training will be phased between the 12th April and 21st June, it will be done safely and with the physical and mental health of our members and community always our top priority. Read more below about how we intend to reopen safely.
As you will now know, this is your regular instalment of the things we’ve been up to in and around the academy, stuff that’s caught our eye this week and info that we feel benefits you.
Got a specific question? Chances are we’ve answered it on our YouTube channel or Website FAQs. If you can’t find the answer, hit us up on Email – we love to chat!
If you’ve watched our growth during the pandemic you’ll know our commitment to our members and more broadly our community. No Jiu Jitsu school has done more in our city to support their members through payment freezes and online training options. Fact! The proof is in the pudding as they say and we’ve continued to grow during lockdown as a result, we’re very grateful for everyone’s support.
We’re not about to throw all of that hard work away!
Flinging open our doors to an unlimited number of members on the 12th of April would be reckless and undo all that hard work. We have put a lot of thought into, surveyed our current members, and decided on the following:
✅ Our Little Champions (aged 3-15) will return from Monday 12th April with no restrictions. Guidance is in place for parents spectating.
✅ Free -Trial classes to resume for Little Champions from 12th April.
✅ An additional 6 hours of training in our schedule each week to offset reducing numbers on the mat.
✅ Continued live streaming of classes and NEW solo drills classes available.
✅ Only Adult training within agreed household/support bubbles until restrictions ease in May/June.
✅ Prioritising Free-Trial spaces for those in household or support bubbles during April.
We know how hard this last year has been for our kids. Lack of motivation, drop in mental and physical health, lack of socialising opportunities…we could go on! Brazilian Jiu Jitsu hits all of these parent-pinch-points and now is the best time to start something new.
We’re experiencing extremely high uptake for all of our programs and have over 90 people already signed up to take their free trial class. Jump the queue and sign your child up as a member today for only £1.
Little Champion Members are scheduled into recurring classes each week starting on the 12th April.
For a limited period we’re offering a £1 membership for anyone who signs their child up as a member before the 8th March 2021. You’ll receive full access to our live online classes immediately and then get an amazing 10% off your child’s first 16 weeks or training when we reopen. We’ll also pay 30% towards the cost of their first uniform!
Don’t keep putting it off. See this lockdown as an opportunity to change your child’s life for the better.
In Mat Matters #009 we spoke about our partnership and support for the amazing REORG charity. Check this image out of our member Toby rocking the REORG Fire rashguard, we think it looks super cool!
Toby is a serving firefighter in Leeds and has been training in our online classes with his wife Sarah and daughter Camille throughout lockdown. We wanted to say a massive thank you to Toby and all of the amazing firemen and women who help to keep our communities safe.
Did you know we offer discounts for anyone currently serving in our armed forces, police, fire service, NHS, ambulance service and even veterans. Get in touch and start your Jiu Jitsu journey with us today!
This week we sat down with the inspirational Victor Estima for the North Leeds Jitz Podcast, it was an amazing episode!
Victor is a former world champion and one of the current leaders of Gracie Barra in Europe….he’s also Prof. Mike’s instructor! We talked about the way Victor’s life has been changed by Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and his philosophy of approaching competition.
Victor will be visiting our academy for a special members-only seminar in July 2021!
Ever wondered what the best way to control someone on the ground is? In the latest release of our YouTube series Prof. Mike explains this interesting topic.
We’re still releasing a new video everyday during lockdown. Check out our channel and subscribe.
We really do hope that you are all staying healthy and remaining positive in what will hopefully be the last few weeks of lockdown. Don’t hesitate to Get in touch if we can be of any support to you or your family.
See you on the mat very soon!
