Jack Lam

We got to chat with Jack Lam this week – he’s been a part of our GBRL family since 2021! Jack started in our Little Champions 2 programme, and now he’s part of the Junior & Teens programme.

1. What’s your favourite thing about BJJ at GBRL? And why?

JL: Everyone is friendly and really kind, and I’ve made loads of great friendships.

2. Besides BJJ, what other sports do you enjoy playing?

JL: Other martial arts and football.

3. Your whole family trains at GBRL – that’s awesome! Who’s your toughest training partner at home (and don’t lie!)

JL: My dad, definitely!

4. What’s the coolest thing you’ve learned about BJJ that you didn’t know before joining GBRL?

JL: I’ve learnt loads of submissions which are really cool!

5. We heard you have aspirations to compete in BJJ tournaments; what motivates you to compete?

JL: I am motivated by wanting to challenge myself.

6. If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?

JL: To fly because I could travel all over the world.

7. If you could meet any person in the world, who would it be, and what would you ask them?

JL: David Beckham! I would ask him how he used to handle a loss when playing football.

8. Last one: what is your one piece of advice to new students starting at GBRL?

JL: Don’t be scared, just relax because everyone is really friendly.
