GBF is a women-only 8-week course designed for beginners as a stepping stone into BJJ.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling and ground-fighting martial art that emphasises technique and leverage to control and submit an opponent.
BJJ is a great activity for women as it combines self-defence, fitness, and a welcoming community.
It empowers women to feel safer, stronger, and part of a supportive network of like-minded individuals.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fosters a diverse and welcoming community that promotes strong bonds and friendships among our team.
Techniques are designed to work regardless of a person’s size or strength, making it an effective self-defence tool for women.
BJJ promotes overall health with benefits like improved strength, flexibility, cardio, stress relief, and mental resilience.
GBF is an 8-week female-only beginner BJJ course.
Over 8 weeks, you’ll learn the basics of BJJ and develop a strong foundation in self-defence techniques.
The course is designed to be a stepping stone into our GB1 fundamentals programme.
The GBF Course takes place at our academy on Street Lane in Roundhay.
Starting January 10th with sessions every Wednesday and Friday at 7 pm with the last being March 1st.
In BJJ we train in a uniform called a ‘Gi’. For the duration of the course, you will be given a brand new uniform set worth £150.
The course is limited to 18 places and you need to be at least 16 years old to attend.
This is a beginner’s course and isn’t suitable for anyone currently training in BJJ or who has a significant training history.
When starting a new endeavour like BJJ, it’s natural for doubts and excuses to creep in. Together we can recognise and overcome these common roadblocks:
Your wisdom and experience can be valuable assets in BJJ – there's no such thing as 'too old'
BJJ is adaptable to accommodate your injuries and promote recovery, not exacerbate them.
BJJ welcomes all fitness levels and helps you improve gradually, so you can start where you are.
Even with a hectic schedule, BJJ offers a productive break from your daily routine.
Close contact in BJJ is safe and respectful, with everyone focused on helping you learn.
Don't worry, everyone starts as a beginner, and our team is here to guide you every step of the way.
